This past weekend I traveled down to Puerto Rico to celebrate the marriage of two dear friends, Sarah and Dan. I met Sarah while studying photography at Montana State University-Bozeman nearly a dozen years ago. If my memory serves me, Sarah first introduced me and my family to Dan during a visit when we were living in Truckee; they were on their way to Burning Man. I remember how both their smiles were contagious and made, not only each other incredibly happy, but everyone near them too. To this day, it is the same, a viral joy emanates from their smiles. As we’ve been able to visit Sarah and Dan over the years, we have come to know Dan as an unabashed character with an oversized heart and like Sarah, he is one of those friends you wish lived in your same town, someone you saw everyday. Almost two years ago, these two brought a third into their family, little Hailey girl. She is a perfect blend of her parents, a warm person with incredible charm! It’s a blast to see how her parents are reflected in her mannerisms.
Sarah and Dan’s marriage in Puerto Rico was fantastic. About two dozen friends and family converged on the small town of Guanica and enjoyed snorkeling, diving, hiking in one the largest remaining tropical dry coastal forests, drinking, and relaxing on the beach. Sarah’s uncle married them on a quiet beach and incorporated many native ceremonies. Each attendee was asked to write a few words or bring a quote to speak to them which made for a very personal moment to everyone.
Congrats to three of my favorite people! Sarah, Dan, and Hailey, may your love for one another and the smiles you share be as relentless as the mosquitoes that consumed our bodies!
