North Bay Area Engagement Session, San Francisco.

Anymore, my clientele is primarily referral based and on occasion I get the pleasure of working for the same family multiple times. So it has been with the Kristyn’s family! I’m fairly certain I’ve mentioned this in the past, but, seeing how the point I’m about to make has been one of the best and unforeseen perks I’ve found being a photographer, I thought I’d mention it again–that the relationships photographers develop with clients isn’t typically a one time deal–they grow and blossom crossing generations, family members, and friends.

Having this opportunity to photograph for Kristyn and Neill is awesome–my third wedding in their family. They are such a fun couple and thankfully they trusted me to take them on a bit of a road trip through the North Bay Area stopping through places like Nicasio, Point Reyes Station, and a handful of road side pullouts for their engagement session. Their wedding, like all weddings, is going to be a fantastic reunion of family and friends and that I know so many of their family and friends makes this upcoming gig that much more exciting!

Wedding photograph from a Grand Cayman wedding.

When couples decide to have their wedding on a distant and foreign land, far from both their home and the homes of their guests, those guests who make the journey are typically within the closest circle to the Bride and Groom. As a photographer documenting these weddings which inadvertently pare the attendees to these in the “inner circle,” I arrive as an outsider. True, I have the history of either talking with, meeting in person, or photographing engagement images with the couple and sometimes all three. However, as I arrive an outsider, I am constantly touched by the welcoming spirit that both my “clients” and their guests extend to me in a way that makes me feel part of their crew. As with most weddings, the happiness and exuberance that accompanies friends and family when they arrive on an island like Grand Cayman, is infectious. An example of this is seen when friends from opposite ends of the couples’ lives meet and are enjoying one another’s company–as if they had been lifelong friends themselves.

This past weekend photographing Kristin & Howie’s Grand Cayman wedding was incredible. I was absorbed into their destination wedding weekend and photographed some lifestyle and night out images on Friday, their wedding day, as well as a boat tour on Sunday. A HUGE thank you to this amazing couple, their family and friends–I’m going to pinch myself now to make sure this is my “job!”
