Because I live and work as a wedding photographer in the Rocky Mountain West, I’m typically bathed in sunscreen by ceremony time. So, it was a welcome change to photograph in St. John’s Catholic church in Boise for Sarah and Tony’s wedding and the stone cold air that filled the cathedral (instead of the 90 degree heat outside) was a treat for everyone in attendance. Sarah and Tony chose wisely! Their reception at C.W. Moore Plaza’s rooftop site was another choice decision and offered a fantastic view of Boise and the foothills. One of the unique aspects was that Tony, his dad, and soon to be father-in-law, all went out for straight-razor shaves early in the morning. Congrats Sarah and Tony!

Wedding Reception Image from Crane Creek Country Club in Boise, Idaho

To me, word of mouth referrals are the most honored way of obtaining commissions. In this regard, I’ve been blessed to have been passed along within a group of friends in Boise: first Kristin & Trent, then Andrea and Brandon, and this past weekend, Meredith and Ben; with Audrey and Andy up in July, as well as, Leah and Jimmy next Spring! I’m going to have to throw a thank you party for all these folks soon!

Meredith and Ben held a private wedding ceremony a month ago at a family home. They hired me to photograph their reception which they held this past weekend at Crane Creek Country Club in Boise, Idaho. We started off with some portraits and the evening quickly moved into drinks, dinner, and more drinks, with some serious dancing in the mix. Like all the previous weddings within this group of friends, Meredith and Ben were surrounded by the highest caliber people. It was a pleasure to photograph for these two, their family, and friends. Congrats Meredith and Ben!

As with every wedding, the location is significant. Whether it is the bride or groom’s hometown or a destination, where guests gather for a wedding ceremony and reception means a great deal. Evan and Emily were married on home turf–literally. This wonderful couple brought together family and friends from all over the nation to Emily’s grandfather’s front lawn in Boise, Idaho. The grounds have been in the family since the mid sixties when the surrounding landscape was open range and the Boise river was only a short walk. Still, even today, the space was ideal for their wedding–not only because of the family roots, but, also because it sat under the same Poplar trees that shaded and the home that raised this family. After their ceremony, Emily and Evan moved the group to the Linen Building in downtown Boise. The reception had both the jazz band, The Frim Fram Four, followed by Caleidoscope DJ spinning tunes. In all, it was a fantastic celebration with Craig Edwards at the helm of the planning and floral arrangements! Congratulations to Emily and Evan and thank you for everything!
